TFI.BUZZ Rating: 2.5/5
Romanchakam is a Telugu romantic comedy-drama that hit theatres on September 3, 2026, starring Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar in the lead roles. Directed and written by Venu Gopal Reddy, the film attempts to mix romance, comedy and suspense around a modern dating-app story.
The movie follows a young startup founder who launches a dating app and unexpectedly falls in love with a woman named Mythili. What begins as a romantic journey soon turns chaotic, affecting his life as well as the lives of his friends.
With Pranay Reddy Vanga producing and Sandeep Reddy Vanga presenting the film through Bhadrakali Pictures, Romanchakam comes with an interesting contemporary premise. However, the execution doesn’t consistently deliver the fun and excitement expected from its concept.
📖 Romanchakam Movie Story / Plot Overview
The story follows a young startup founder who decides to enter the dating-app space. His professional journey takes an unexpected turn when he meets Mythili and falls in love with her.
Mythili’s arrival completely changes his life. What initially appears to be a straightforward romantic relationship soon creates a series of chaotic situations involving the protagonist and his group of friends.
The film attempts to combine romance, humour and suspense, moving between the protagonist’s love life, his friendships and the complications created by Mythili’s presence.
The dating-app backdrop gives the story a contemporary touch, while the involvement of the friends provides opportunities for comedy and situational humour.
👍 Positives
💡 Interesting Dating-App Premise
The idea of a young entrepreneur building a dating app gives Romanchakam a modern setting.
The concept has plenty of scope for humour, relationship complications and unexpected situations, making it a potentially entertaining premise for a romantic comedy.
🎭 Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar
Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar lead the film. Their characters form the central relationship around which much of the story develops.
The youthful casting suits the film’s contemporary romantic setup.
😄 Mix of Genres
The attempt to combine romance, comedy and suspense gives the movie different shades.
The film doesn’t restrict itself to being just a love story, as the protagonist’s relationship gradually creates problems involving his friends and personal life.
🎵 Music
Vasuki Vaibhav provides the music for the film, adding to its youthful romantic atmosphere.
👎 Negatives
😕 Execution Feels Frustrating
The biggest problem with Romanchakam is its execution. The interesting dating-app premise doesn’t consistently translate into engaging entertainment.
Instead of making the chaotic situations genuinely funny or exciting, some portions can feel frustrating.
🐌 Uneven Engagement
The mixture of romance, comedy and suspense doesn’t always maintain a smooth flow.
The film has an interesting basic idea, but the screenplay struggles to make every situation land effectively.
😂 Comedy Doesn’t Always Work
The movie depends heavily on situations involving the protagonist and his friends. However, not every comedic sequence delivers the desired impact.
This makes the overall experience feel inconsistent, particularly when the film expects the audience to stay invested in its chaotic situations.
💔 Romance Could Have Been Stronger
The central romance between the protagonist and Mythili is important to the story, but the emotional connection could have been developed more effectively.
A stronger romantic track might have made the later complications more impactful.
🎭 Overall Review
Romanchakam starts with an interesting and contemporary idea: a young startup founder creates a dating app and then finds himself caught in an unexpected romantic mess.
The combination of a dating-app concept, youthful romance, comedy and suspense gives the film enough material for an entertaining experience. Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar fit the youthful setting, while the supporting cast adds more characters to the chaotic storyline.
However, the main issue is the execution. The comedy doesn’t consistently work, the romantic track could have had more emotional depth, and the chaotic situations sometimes become more frustrating than fun.
With a more tightly written screenplay and better balance between its romantic, comedic and suspense elements, Romanchakam could have made better use of its promising concept.
Overall, Romanchakam is a mixed romantic comedy-drama that has an interesting idea but doesn’t fully convert it into satisfying entertainment.
⭐ TFI.BUZZ Rating: 2.5/5
Romanchakam gets 2.5/5 from TFI.BUZZ.
The film has a fresh dating-app premise and a youthful cast, but inconsistent comedy, uneven execution and a less impactful romantic track hold it back.
