The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady’s Treasure has a theatrical-rights announcement that specifically matters to Indian fans: Crunchyroll says its North American and worldwide rights exclude Asia but include India. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the film in those rights territories, according to the official announcement.
The distinction is important. India is explicitly named in the rights carve-out, but that does not yet provide an Indian premiere date, ticket-sales schedule or local cinema list. Crunchyroll says international dates and ticket information will follow later.
What is confirmed so far
The film is scheduled to open in Japan on December 11, 2026. Crunchyroll describes it as the franchise’s first anime feature, based on a concept by series creator Natsu Hyuuga. Norihiro Naganuma directs at TOHO Animation STUDIO. The film brings the palace mystery into a new story involving a secret treasure and the series’ central investigative duo.
For Indian viewers, the announcement confirms that the film’s theatrical-rights package includes the country; it does not confirm when or where it will screen. Until Crunchyroll or its distribution partners publish a local schedule, “India release date” remains TBA. The original The Apothecary Diaries series page is also available on Crunchyroll, with catalogue availability varying by territory.
Why this is notable
Global anime-film announcements often use broad territory language that can leave Indian fans unsure whether the country is included. This one names India directly while reserving the actual local date for a later update. That makes the rights news useful, but it is not yet a theatrical booking announcement.
